Distribution of the fruit and veggie vouchers through the Senior Farmers Market Program for any eligible YorkCounty senior citizen who did not already receive their vouchers, will take place on Monday, July 12 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the York County Area Agency on Aging, 100 West Market Street, York; Use the Beaver Street entrance. Due to limited number of vouchers, they will be given on a first come, first serve basis.
The York County Area Agency on Aging, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, is offering the Farmers Market Nutrition Program to eligible YorkCounty senior citizens. This program provides $20.00 in vouchers to eligible seniors to buy fresh fruit and vegetables from participating local farm markets.
York County residents who are 60 years of age or older, and who have an annual gross household income of $20,036 for one person or $26,955 for a two person household are eligible to participate. Proof of age and YorkCounty residency must be shown. A Farmers Market Proxy Form is required for anyone picking up vouchers for another eligible individual, and can be downloaded from the ‘Forms and Documents’ page.
Residents of nursing homes, personal care facilities or any residential setting that offer meals are ineligible to receive the vouchers.
Seniors are eligible to receive the vouchers only once per calendar year.
