The York College SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) Team is offering four free workshops for older adults age 55+ on how to use a computer and utilize the internet to your advantage. Workshops start on Saturday, March 27th and run through Saturday, April 24th.
Do you belong to a civic organization or church group and may be interested in volunteering as a group? Are you a business leader looking for community service for your staff, along with the opportunity for team building? If so, we would be interested in hearing from you! The York County Senior Games Planning Committee is seeking groups of adult volunteers to assist with the 2010 York County Senior Games, being held June 20th through June 26th, 2010.
Governer Rendell has announced the program's closing date will be extended from March 15 until April 2. Cash grants which help low-income families pay their heating bills, have also been increased by $100. This money will be sent out by the end of February. A second $100 is being issued for households containing elderly persons (anyone 60+), disabled persons (anyone receiving financial assistance for a disability), or children 5 and under. Homeowners, as well as renters , are able to apply for LIHEAP benefits. Income guidelines apply.
AARP volunteers will be available at the York County Area Agency on Aging to assist you in completing your taxes, property tax/rent rebate and PACE/PACENET applications. Appointments are required.
