Free Computer Workshops for Older Adults age 55+
The York College SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) Team's community service project is aimed toward teaching older adults age 55+ how to use a computer. The SIFE Team is composed of hard working, enthusiastic college students that have a passion for giving back to the college and community through numerous service projects.
Four workshops are being offered:
- Saturday, March 27, 2010 "How to Use a Computer and Popular Computer Programs"
This workshop will cover how to turn on a computer, control the computer, connect to a network and use printers and scanners, and use programs including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Saturday, April 10, 2010 "Emailing"
This workshop will cover setting up an email account, adding contacts in an address book, and managing email in folders.
- Saturday, April 17, 2010 "Online Banking"
This workshop will cover setting up an online account to the user's bank, how to view transactions, and how to pay bills.
- Saturday, April 24, 2010 "Social Networking"
This workshop will cover instant messaging and social networking sties.
Each workshop will be held at York College of Pennsylvania from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Parking is available in the big parking lot across the creek and next to Beard and Penn Hall. Contact Erik Dixon at (610) 639-5075 or edixon@ycp.edu to register.
